MT PLEASANT, S.C. – College of Charleston baseball plated three runs in the bottom of the eighth to defeat Campbell, 6-5, Saturday afternoon at Patriots Point.

The Cougars picked up their 15th victory of the campaign and improve to 3-2 in the CAA. Senior
Dariyan Pendergrass tallied three hits on the day, including the go-ahead two-run double to give CofC the advantage in the home half of the eighth.

Daniel Brooks made his first Saturday start, striking out six in six innings of work while allowing just two runs, one earned, on five hits.

CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST CAMPBELL:
- Charleston scored runs in the first and second innings, highlighted by junior Payton Frehner's two-out double to score freshman Alex LaCoste from first.
- Pendergrass tallied his second knock of the day with a stand-up triple to lead off the fifth, scoring on freshman Landon Penfield's single to right, breaking the 2-2 tie.
- Campbell took its lone lead of the day following a two-run seventh and tacking on another run in the eighth for the 5-3 lead.
- Graduate Will Baumhofer paced the comeback with two outs in the eighth, singling to center. Following a Frehner walk, sophomore Brent Gibbs singled to right.
- Two batters later, Pendergrass served the first pitch to left, bringing home a pair on the double.
- With a runner on third in the top of the ninth, Frehner robbed Campbell's Jackson Thompson of driving in the tying run, making the dive play and throw to home to knab Darnell Parker at the plate.

OF NOTE:
- Charleston improves to 15-17 all-time against Campbell.
- Pendergrass recorded his 12th multi-hit performance of the season and stole his 21st base.
- Brooks' six innings tied his career high, which was last achieved April 2, 2022.
- Four of Charleston's six runs Saturday came with two outs.
- The Cougars improve to 209-12 under head coach Chad Holbrook when leading after eight innings.
- Aiken earned his 15th career save in a Charleston uniform and has not allowed a run in seven of his last eight outings.
- Frehner is the third different Cougar to reach 10-plus multi-hit contests, joining Baumhofer and Pendergrass.
- Redshirt freshman Kevin Samonsky earned his first collegiate win tossing 1.1 innings of relief. Samonsky fanned three Camels and has struck out 13 batters in his last three appearances, totaling 8.1 innings.
