MT PLEASANT, S.C. – College of Charleston baseball scored nine runs in the sixth to defeat Charleston Southern, 14-9, Tuesday evening at Patriots Point.

Will Baumhofer launched back-to-back home runs in the nine-run sixth for the Cougars. Baumhofer finished the day 4-for-5 with three runs and four RBI while Pendergrass tallied three hits and five at bats, three runs, four RBI and a stolen base.

CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST CHARLESTON SOUTHERN:
- The Bucs drew first blood in the second with three runs before CofC sent 10 batters to the plate, scoring four in the fourth, highlighted by Baumhofer's two-run infield single.
- Charleston Southern tacked on a run in the fifth before scoring four in the top of the sixth for an 8-5 advantage.
- In the home half of the frame, Charleston broke the game open, sending 13 batters to the dish.
- Senior Dylan Johnson tied the game at eight, singling the 14th pitch he saw into center before later scoring on sophomore Brent Gibbs' infield single.
- Pendergrass then blasted a three-run shot, sending the ball 379 feet.
- In the next at bat, Baumhofer crushed the 1-1 pitch 410 feet into the right-center gap for his first of the season.
- Redshirt junior Alex Lyon earned the win, improving to 5-1 on the season.

- Charleston is now 63-18 against Charleston Southern and 32-12 at home.
- Tuesday was 31st time in the 81 meetings that the Cougars have scored 10-plus runs.
- CofC scored nine runs in an inning for the first time since March 11, 2015.
- The Cougars hit back-to-back home runs for the 43rd time in program history.
- Lyon's five wins are a career-best for the reliever, surpassing last year's 4-3 record in 28 ballgames.
- Baumhofer's four hits ties a career-high, previously set April 27, 2024.
- Pendergrass' 23 stolen bases are the second-most by a Cougar since 2013, trailing Dupree Hart's 40 bags in 2019.
- The four RBI from Pendergrass are the most in a Charleston uniform.
