ELON, N.C. - The College of Charleston women's tennis team defeated No.5 UNCW 4-1 in the opening match of the CAA Championships on Friday, April 25.
After dropping the doubles point to start the day, the Cougars grabbed four-straight wins in singles play to advance to the semifinals of the conference tournament.
Maja Jekauc evened the match, with a 6-2, 6-3 victory on court 1, followed by
Oziera Ahmad downing her opponent in two sets as well. Charleston added their third point when
Jaiden McKee bested her opponent on court 5 in a 6-2, 6-4 victory.
Francesca Salvato clinched the win for the Cougars after battling to three-sets, taking court 2 6-1, 1-6, 6-4.
Charleston will face No.1 Elon on Saturday in their first semifinals berth since 2022. CofC fell to Elon earlier in April and will be looking to avenge the loss and earn a spot in Sunday's championship match.
Doubles play will begin at 10:00 a.m. in Elon, N.C.
