Women's Tennis Completes Fall Slate with CofC Halloween Championship

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Charleston women's tennis team finished the fall slate at the CofC Halloween Championship this weekend.

The Cougars collected a total of 22 wins over opponents from Coastal Carolina, Marshall and Samford at the championship.

"It was a good tournament to end the fall against very talented teams in Coastal Carolina, Marshall and Samford – two of which we'll play against in the spring." head coach Angelo Anastopoulo said. "Oziera has a very successful tournament, tying for the best record a the No. 1 flight. Sia continued to play solid tennis, going 2-1 in the No. 2 flight. Newcomers Saige Severance and Riley Trinkle both going 3-0 in their respective flights is a great reward for the hardwork they've put into their games this fall. All teams should be commended on their sportsmanship and competitiveness throughout the tournament. It was a great weekend with a fun-filled Halloween costume party Friday evening. We're ready to make the most of this offseason as we make the final preparations entering the spring championship season."

Freshman Riley Trinkle led all Cougars with five victories. Trinkle earned three singles wins and two doubles victories alongside junior Oziera Ahmad.

Along with the two doubles wins, Ahmad came out on top in two of her singles matches. Sophomore Saige Severance tallied three singles triumphs to go along with a doubles win with her partner, sophomore Sia Cariov. Cariov tabbed two singles victories this weekend, for a total of three.

Additionally, senior Jaiden McKee, sophomore Isabella De Luise and freshman Olivia Bull all tabbed two wins in their singles matches, while senior Francesca Salvato and redshirt sophomore Marra Bruce both collected one singles win at the CofC Halloween Championship.

De Luise and sophomore Harper Santos earned a pair of doubles victories on Saturday morning.
