LaCoste Named CAA Rookie of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – College of Charleston first baseman Alex LaCoste was named the CAA Rookie of the Week.
The freshman batted .467 (7-for-15) with three doubles, his first two career homers, six runs scored and three RBI in CofC's 4-0 week. LaCoste recorded multiple hits and multiple runs in three games and doubled in each of his first three contests. The freshman capped the week by becoming the first Charleston true freshman with a multi-homer game since 2015 with a pair of solo shots at North Carolina A&T.
LaCoste is the sixth different Cougar to earn a weekly award. Graduate Avery Neaves (Feb. 17) and junior Payton Frehner (Feb. 24) and redshirt junior Ethan Plyler (March 24) were named Player of the Week, junior Jake Brink garnered Pitcher of the Week (April 14) and freshman Landon Penfield (March 3) collected a Rookie of the Week honor.
The Cougars host USC Upstate on Tuesday, May 13 for a 6 p.m. matchup at Patriots Point.
