
Women's Soccer Falls to Texas on the Road

AUSTIN, TEXAS – The College of Charleston women's soccer team fell to Texas in Austin Sunday afternoon 1-3 at Mike A. Meyers Stadium and Soccer Field.
Texas got on the board first just six minutes into the contest. The Cougar defense was able to hold the Texas attack scoreless for the remainder of the half to enter the locker room down 1-0.
The Longhorns tallied their second and third goals of the day ten minutes into the second half before Emma Wennar found her second goal of the season, assisted by Lilli Ray to get the Cougars on the board.
Throughout the game the Cougars took 19 shots compared to the Longhorns 15. Of Charleston's 19 shots, four were on goal. Charleston found eight corners compared to Texas's five.
Making her first start of the season, Izzy Arnold was crucial to Charleston defense blocking two Longhorn shots early in the first half.
Avery Nassetta and Caroline Fowlkes each had three shots on the day while freshman Ellie Stewart had a close shot at the 40-minute mark.
Maggie Wadsworth saw her first action of the season taking two shots and playing 42 minutes.
Goalkeeper Ainsley Chunn saved three shots Sunday afternoon playing all 90 minutes.
The Cougars return home Thursday Sept. 4 to face Wake Forest at 7:00 p.m. Admission is free, and the game will feature a welcome back students theme with an opportunity to win a 40" smart TV.
