WILMINGTON, N.C. - The College of Charleston men's soccer team fell 4-2 on the road at UNCW Saturday evening. With the loss, Charleston moves to 3-5-1 and 0-2-1 in the CAA.
The contest, originally set for the UNCW Soccer Stadium, was played at nCino Sports Park in Wilmington.
After UNCW scored an early goal six minutes into the contest, the Cougars answered with a strike of their own in the 21st minute after a Pavel Dashin shot rebounded to the foot of Matt Lenert to tie it 1-1.
Charleston added their second goal of the night on a Lenert penalty kick to the upper left corner of the net to take a 2-1 edge. The goal was Lenert's second penalty conversion of the season and fourth overall goal on the year.
UNCW tied the match again with five minutes remaining in the half to send the teams to the locker room knotted at 2-2.
The Seahawks scored two goals in three minutes out of the half to take a 4-2 advantage that would hold for the remainder of the match. Charleston outshot UNCW 6-5 in the second half while taking six corners in the frame.
The teams ended the evening with 12 shots each, led by Lenert's three on goal and four total. Eight total Cougars attempted a shot.
