
Men's Basketball Continues Homestand Saturday vs. Hampton

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The College of Charleston men's basketball team continues CAA play, welcoming the Hampton Pirates to TD Arena on Saturday, January 10. Action is set for 5:00 p.m. in Charleston.
STORYLINES
In order to sell and/or serve an alcoholic beverage in TD Arena, the following requirements apply:
As fans enter the main entrance of TD Arena on November 3, they will see new walk-through magnetometers, or metal detectors. In addition to the existing Clear Bag and prohibited items policy at TD Arena, the magnetometers are a new added security feature to enhance the safety of our fans.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
STORYLINES
- Charleston is 5-0 all-time against Hampton. Four out of the five meetings have taken place as members of the Coastal Athletic Association. Last season, the Cougars earned a 94-67 victory at TD Arena to open conference play.
- The Cougars are coming off a 88-79 win over William & Mary on Monday, January 5. Colby Duggan and Martin Kalu led Charleston with 17 points each. The Cougars had 47 rebounds, the most for the program this season against Division I competition and tied their season high with 11 threes made.
- With the win over William & Mary, Charleston has won six contests in a row, the most of the Chris Mack era.
- Redshirt sophomore Chol Machot currently ranks seventh in the country in total blocks (42) and tenth in blocks per game (2.63). He has recorded 4+ blocks on five occasions this season with his season-high seven vs. Elon which ranks second all-time in a single game in program history.
- Current CAA Player of the Week Jlynn Counter earned the honor for the second time this season to start conference action. The graduate student went off for 22.5 points, 7.5 assists, 7.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game in wins over Drexel and Elon. He has scored in double-figures in seven straight contests and has dished out at least six assists in five straight contests.
- Charleston ranks in the top 50 nationally in trips to the free throw line, coming in at 39th in free throw attempts per game (25.4) and 40th in free throws made per game (18.6).
- Five Cougars are currently averaging double-figure points per game, led by Counter with 15.6 and followed by Connor Hickman with 12.2, Kalu with 11.9, Duggan with 11.3, and Machot with 10.0.
- The Pirates enter the contest 8-9 overall, most recently falling at Campbell 86-72 on Thursday night. Michael Ely led Hampton with 43 points and eight rebounds. His 43 points are tied for the most points in a single game in Hampton's NCAA Division I history, tied for the fifth most in a game in school history and eighth all-time in CAA history.
- Ely leads the Pirates offense on the year, averaging 13.2 points per game followed by Jalyke Gaines-Wyatt with 10.4. Xzavier Long controls the glass, grabbing 10.6 rebounds per game.
- The 2026 College of Charleston Athletics Hall of Fame class will be inducted at halftime of Saturday's contest.
- This year's class includes baseball's all-time saves leader Brett Harker, equestrian's Cacchione Cup runner-up Hannah Mayer, and swimming record breaker Matthew Sherrier. For more information, click here.
- Doors will open 1.5 hours prior to tip-off.
- Concession stands will open when doors open, and the Cougar Spirit Shop will open one hour prior to tip-off.
- Add your tickets to your Apple Wallet or Google Pay App prior to arriving at TD Arena for the smoothest entry experience.

- An ADA drop-off lane is provided in the right-hand lane traveling along Meeting Street next to TD Arena.
In order to sell and/or serve an alcoholic beverage in TD Arena, the following requirements apply:
- Moving forward, a valid ID is required to be scanned/swiped for each transaction.
- Vertical IDs will not be accepted at sales locations regardless of the individual's age.
- All ID checks will be handled directly by our Aramark concession partners at each stand. EPI staff will no longer check ID's or provide wristbands.
- No more than two (2) alcoholic beverages may be sold or served per transaction.

WHAT TO EXPECT:
- Fans will enter TD Arena at the Meeting Street entrance.
- Once inside, fans will be asked to take their belongings out of their pockets and place them in a bin. This includes phone, wallet, keys, etc.
- If you bring a bag compliant with the Clear Bag policy, your items can be placed in the bag.
- EPI security staff will provide guidance on when to walk through the magnetometer and assist in retrieving your belongings after you clear through the magnetometer.
- Finally, approach the pedestal ticket scanners at the base of the stairs, scan your tickets, and cheer on the Cougars!
- The contest marks the first of six appearances for the Cougars on CBS Sports Network. Paul Fritschner and John Giannini will have the nationally televised call
