
Cougars Down Camels; Earn Win No. 800 in Program History

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The College of Charleston women's basketball team (18-3, 9-0) earned a 61-49 win at Campbell (14-9, 7-3) on Tuesday night.
With the win, the Cougars earned their 800th win in program history.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After trailing for the majority of the first quarter, back-to-back triples from Sophia Tougas and a layup from Anilys Rolon gave the Cougars a 17-15 lead after the first 10 minutes.
- Rolon continued to stay hot as she drilled a three to put CofC up 24-19 and forced a Camels timeout with 6:34 left in the half.
- The Cougars and the Camels traded buckets for the rest of the half with Charleston taking a 31-28 edge into the break.
- Down 39-38 with 4:38 left in the third, Charleston closed the quarter on a 9-3 spurt to take a 47-42 advantage into the final stanza.
- CofC continued its run as the Cougars scored the first nine points of the fourth quarter to take control of the game with a 56-42 lead with 5:00 left to play.
- Campbell pulled within 10 with 2:40 remaining, but buckets from Taylor and Taryn Barbot sealed the game as the Cougars went on the win by a final score of 61-49 at Gore Arena.
LEADING COUGARS
- Junior Taylor Barbot had a game-high 19 points.
- Junior Taryn Barbot tallied 13 points, five rebounds and four assists.
- Junior Grace Ezebilo set a Division I program record for rebounds in a game with 24 boards, including nine offensive rebounds. She also added eight points, collected three steals and dished out two assists against the Camels.
- Redshirt senior Sophia Tougas added 10 points as she reached the double figure scoring mark for the ninth time this season.
KEY STATS
- The Cougars took 14 free throw attempts and went 12-for-14 from the charity stripe, while Campbell went just 1-for-4 from the line.
- Charleston held Campbell to just seven fourth quarter points.
OF NOTE
- Grace Ezebilo set a Division I program record with 24 rebounds. Her 24 rebounds are the third most in a game in all of Charleston women's basketball history.
- Taryn Barbot scored her 1,455th point as a Cougar and is now 11th on Charleston's all-time scoring list.
- Taylor Barbot scored her 700th career point.
- Jami Hill scored her 200th career point.
- Charleston is now 12-13 all-time against Campbell.
- The Cougars have now won 11-straight contests.
- The win over Campbell was win number 800 in program history.
- The Cougars were the first team to defeat the Camels on their home court this season.
