
Charleston Suffers Setback Against Campbell

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's basketball team (22-5, 14-2) fell 59-57 to Campbell (18-11, 11-5) at TD Arena on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Campbell jumped out to a 12-3 lead and held a 16-6 advantage after the first 10 minutes.
- Taryn Barbot went on a personal 9-0 run to bring CofC within one (18-17) with four minutes left in the half.
- Charleston took a 21-19 lead off a Taryn Barbot layup and headed into the locker with a 25-23 advantage.
- After Campbell tied the game 31-all, Leah Philpotts put CofC back in front with a layup before the third quarter media timeout.
- The Camels then took a 36-35 lead with 3:05 left in the third period, but CofC closed the quarter on a 10-1 run to take a 45-37 edge into the final 10 minutes.
- Taryn Barbot hit two free throws to put CofC up 54-47 with 4:25 left in the game.
- After Taryn made two more free throws to make it a 57-53 game in favor of the Cougars with less than two minutes to play, Campbell hit a three and got a layup off a steal to take a 58-57 game with 19 seconds left.
- The Cougars had an opportunity to win the game, but couldn't convert a layup as Campbell went on to win by a final of 59-57.
- Junior Taryn Barbot poured in a game-high 23 points as she reached the 20 point mark for the 14th time this season. She also grabbed three rebounds and had three steals against the Camels.
- Junior Tyja Beans tallied nine points and three rebounds.
- Junior Grace Ezebilo grabbed 10 rebounds and added six points. She reached double digit rebounds for the 21st time this year
- Campbell shot 42% from the field while Charleston shot just 29% during the game.
- Charleston collected 11 steals and forced 20 Campbell turnovers.
- Campell made eight threes, while CofC made just one triple.
- Tyja Beans collected her 100th career steal.
- Grace Ezebilo scored her 800th career point.
- Taryn Barbot scored her 1,581st point as a Cougar and is eighth on Charleston's all-time scoring list.
- Charleston is now 12-14 all-time against Campbell.
