
Track and Field Wins Sharonda Coleman Invite

ORANGEBURG, S.C. – Charleston track and field had a team first place finish at the Sharonda Coleman Invitational Saturday, April 18.
The Cougars scored 163 points across 10 events at the invite. Charleston defeated fellow Charlestonians, The Citadel.
Junior Savannah Stoutt claimed first in the 1500m and the 5000m to score 20 points for the Cougars. In the 1500m she ran a time of 4:45.33 and she crossed the line at 18:41.57 in the 5000m. Cayden Crismon and Aine Trapp placed second and third respectively in the 1500m for a Charleston sweep.
In the high jump, Tori-Ann Anderson took first with a new personal best of 1.76m. Anderson's height marks second-best in program history. The freshman's jump marks her 23rd in the East Region while the top 48 will qualify for the NCAA East Regional. Viktorija Calusic placed second in the high jump, clearing 1.65m for a new personal best while tying fifth best in program history.
In the pole vault, Charleston swept the medal stand with Elaine Zhai and Allie Sanfelippo tying for first. The duo cleared 3.75m, a new personal best for Sanfelippo. Laurie Ware claimed third with a new personal best of 3.75m and Boston Stringer cleared 3.65m for a fourth-place finish.
Trinity Jones advanced to the finals in the 100m dash while running a personal best of 12.19 in the prelims, and a 12.29 in the finals for a fifth-place finish.
Four Cougars placed in the top 10 in the 400m dash with Jackie Sides leading the group. Sides placed third with a time of 57.23 for a ninth best program mark. Abby Mogg, Andie Harding and Mia Romer placed fifth, seventh and eighth respectively.
In the 800m, Avery Belk placed second, scoring eight points for Charleston and running a season best 2:14.60. Katie O'Toole, Gail Vaikutis, Emily Birdsell and Courtney Kearns all scored for the Cougars in the event as well.
Gabby David and Tatum Frith marked season best performances in the long jump Saturday. David finished third, jumping 5.61m and Frith finished fourth, jumping 5.46m.
To round out the day, the 4x400m team placed second with a new program second-best time of 3:53.68. On the squad was Jones, Harding, Mogg and Romer.
Charleston has one more regular season meet slated for 2026 at the East Coast Relays in Jacksonville, Fla. on May 1 and 2.
The Cougars are set to compete at the CAA Outdoor Championships May 15 and 16 in Burlington, N.C.
