NASHVILLE, Tenn. – College of Charleston lost the opening match of the season to Vanderbilt in straight sets (14-25, 20-25, 11-25) Friday evening in Memorial Gymnasium.

Freshman Julie Nzambele collected 7 kills in the loss while sophomore Caroline Noonan added 6 kills and hit .333 while adding in 3 blocks.

CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST VANDERBILT:

Junior Helena Vukovic had 20 assists in her collegiate debut.
Defensively, sophomore Jumana Martin recorded 15 digs.
Senior Gabby Tuiaana tallied five kills and a block in the setback.

OF NOTE:

Charleston and Vanderbilt met for the first time in program history on Friday.
Nzambele and Vukovic, along with freshmen Lucy Haywood, Violet Poole and Laura Sarajarvi made their collegiate debuts. Tuiaana made her Charleston debut.
Martin has had at least 13 digs in 28 career matches.
Junior Cole Crews recorded her first career kill Friday.
