
Charleston Beats Memphis in Five

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – College of Charleston took the final two sets, defeating Memphis in five frames (19-25, 25-23, 26-24, 25-23, 15-8) Sunday afternoon at Allen Arena.
Senior Gabby Tuiaana hit .346 with 12 kills and 4 blocks as CofC totaled 14 blocks in the victory. Defensively, sophomore Jumana Martin tallied 25 digs to go along with 6 assists and 3 service aces.

CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST MEMPHIS:
- Junior Helena Vukovic recorded 30 assists in back-to-back matches with 37 Sunday.
- Sophomore Julia Gnida and senior Lainee Mack both had their first career double-doubles.
- Gnida had 11 kills and a career-best 14 digs while Mack dished out 14 assists to pair with 11 digs.
- Sophomore Caroline Noonan tied her career mark with 9 blocks against Memphis and had 12 kills in the victory.
- CofC came out roaring in the fourth set, jumping out to a 12-3 advantage. Both teams traded service errors before a Gnida kill helped the Cougars push the match to a fifth set.
- In the deciding frame, Charleston jumped out to a 6-2 lead on a Noonan kill.
- A Noonan and redshirt sophomore Emma Duffield block helped secure the win.
OF NOTE:
- Charleston is now 2-1 in the all-time series versus Memphis.
- CofC his .389 in the final set with 8 kills.
- The Cougars had 5 blocks in the second and fourth frames.
- Freshman Julie Nzambele had 13 kills and totaled 27 on the weekend.
- Charleston's 14 blocks were the most in a match since Sept. 20, 2025, at Towson when it had 15.
- Martin tied her career best with 3 service aces.
- Martin also surpassed the 600-dig mark and has 631 career digs.
