
Cougars to Play in Lowcountry Volleyball Championship

CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston volleyball team plays in its second tournament in the season Sept. 3-5 as it faces The Citadel, Charleston Southern and South Carolina State in the Lowcountry Volleyball Championship, hosted by the Bulldogs. Thursday evening's match will broadcast live on ESPN+. The other two matches will not be streamed.

- Thursday, Sept. 3: at The Citadel at 6 p.m.
- Friday, Sept. 4: vs. Charleston Southern at 3 p.m.
- Saturday, Sept. 5: vs. South Carolina State at 3 p.m.
- Charleston closed out the opening weekend with a five-set victory over Memphis in Nashville.
- Senior Gabby Tuiaana hit .346 with 12 kills and 4 blocks in the victory while sophomore Jumana Martin racked up 25 digs to pair with 6 assists and 3 service aces.
- Sophomore Julia Gnida and senior Lainee Mack both collected their first career double-doubles Sunday.
- Freshman Julie Nzambele had 13 kills versus Memphis and totaled 27 kills over the weekend.
- Martin surpassed the 600-dig mark while in Nashville and now sits at 631 career digs.
- Sophomore Caroline Noonan hit .377 averaging 2.64 kills per set and 1.27 blocks per set in the opening weekend of play.
- The Citadel began the year 1-2 at the Seahawk Classic, beating Le Moyne in straight sets for its first win.
- Charleston Southern took the final two matches of the Big Orange Bash at Clemson, defeating Western Carolina and Butler in five.
- South Carolina State won its first match of 2026, taking down Mississippi Valley State in five sets before losing to Alabama A&M and Arkansas Pine Bluff.
- Charleston is a combined 86-10 against its three opponents this weekend and are 69-4 in three-set matches.
- Charleston holds a 33-2 record over The Citadel.
- The Cougars are 40-8 in matches with Charleston Southern and are winners in 19 of the last 21 meetings.
- CofC is a perfect 13-0 in contests versus South Carolina State.
- Charleston hits the road for its first midweek match of the campaign on Sept. 8 when travels to Presbyterian. The match will begin at 6 p.m. from the Templeton Center and will broadcast on ESPN+.
