Cougars Serve Up 10 Aces in Sweep of Bulldogs

CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston had 10 service aces as it swept The Citadel in straight sets (25-16, 25-18, 25-16) Thursday evening at McAlister Field House in the first game of the Lowcountry Volleyball Championship.
Sophomore Julia Gnida had 9 kills for The College while sophomore Caroline Noonan and senior Gabby Tuiaana each ripped off 7 kills.

- Charleston had 6 service aces in the first set, including three straight by Gnida in the opening frame.
- Junior Cole Crews had two in the second set while sophomore Jumana Martin collected a pair in the final set for 10 in the match.
- 5 of Tuiaana's 7 kills came in the third set.
- Noonan hit .636 in the victory and had 4 kills in 5 attempts in set two.
- Freshman Laura Sarajarvi recorded her first pair of collegiate kills.
- CofC hit .310 in the opening mark with 12 kills.
OF NOTE:
- Charleston improves to 34-2 in the series versus The Citadel.
- Thursday marks the Cougars 30th straight set win over the Bulldogs.
- Martin had a career-high 4 service aces Thursday.
- CofC's 10 aces were the most in a match since it had 14 Sept. 8, 2025, vs The Citadel.
- Redshirt junior Deanna Dollar tallied her 150th career kill.
- Charleston recorded its first win on a Thursday since 2018.
