CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston had 12 blocks in a sweep of Duquesne (25-17, 25-16, 25-10) Friday evening in the team's home opener at TD Arena.

The Cougars (6-2) won their sixth consecutive match with four coming via straight sets as the Dukes slide to 6-2 on the year.

CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST DUQUESNE:

Charleston roared out in the first set, hitting .478 and picking up 6 blocks at the net.
Sophomore Caroline Noonan had 4 blocks and went a perfect 4-for-4 in attack attempts in the opening frame.
Noonan finished the contest with 6 blocks, one of three Cougars to have at least four.
The sophomore also hit .636 with 8 kills.
CofC continued its presence at the net, tallying 5 more blocks in set two.
CofC was on cruise control in the final frame, holding a 17-4 edge at one point.
Senior Gabby Tuiaana's hot hand in the final set helped Charleston once again hit .478. Tuiaana had 5 kills in 6 attempts.
In the win, Tuiaana hit .571 with 9 kills.
Sophomore Julia Gnida had a match-best 12 kills while adding in 5 digs and a solo block.
Junior Helena Vukovic served up four aces, tied with sophomore Jumana Martin for the most by a Cougar this season.
Vukovic had 29 assists, 7 digs, 4 aces and blocks and 3 kills Friday.

OF NOTE:

Charleston earned the win in the first ever meeting with Duquesne.
Charleston's 6 blocks in the first set are the most in a frame this season.
Duquesne's .024 hitting percentage was the lowest by an opponent since Hampton hit -.021 Nov 2, 2024.
CofC has exactly 5 service aces in three straight matches and at least 5 in six consecutive contests.
