Noonan, Nzambele Earn CAA Weekly Honors

RICHMOND, Va. – College of Charleston middle blocker Caroline Noonan and outside hitter Julie Nzambele were named the Coastal Athletic Association Offensive Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively Monday.
Noonan averaged 3.31 kills per set on a whopping .535 hitting percentage to go with 1.23 blocks per set in Charleston's 4-0 week. Noonan began the week hitting .667 with 11 kills in a road sweep of Presbyterian before hitting .636 with eight kills and six blocks in the sweep of Duquesne. The middle blocker went on to post a week-best 13 kills versus Northern Kentucky, adding five stuffs at the net in the 3-1 win. Noonan also logged 11 kills and four blocks in the sweep of Notre Dame, helping the Cougars earn their first home win over a Power Four conference team since 2014.
Nzambele played a key role in helping Charleston win all four matches last week. Nzambele averaged 1.77 kills per set on a .221 hitting percentage to go along with 14 digs and seven blocks. Her best match of the weekend came in the team's sweep of Notre Dame, hitting .304 with eight kills, eight digs and a pair of blocks. The Cougars are on an eight-match winning streak following the weekend of action.
Charleston begins conference play Sept. 19 and 20 at Elon. Opening serves from the Schar Center are scheduled for 8 p.m. and 3 p.m.
