ELON, N.C. – College of Charleston swept Elon Saturday evening (25-18, 25-15, 25-22) to begin Coastal Athletic Association play 1-0.

The Cougars improve to 9-2 overall while the Phoenix slide to 3-8 on the season.

CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST ELON:

Charleston averaged 15.33 kills per set in the win, hitting .290.
CofC recorded 7 blocks Saturday, with five coming in the third set.
Junior Helena Vukovic dished out 32 assists along with 9 digs, 3 kills, 3 service aces and 3 blocks.
Senior Gabby Tuiaana had a game-best 12 kills in the win.
Freshman Julie Nzambele hit .400 with 8 kills and a pair of blocks.
Defensively, Jumana Martin had 13 digs and 7 assists on the backline, helping hold Elon to a .115 hitting percentage.

OF NOTE:

Charleston improves to 38-5 overall versus Elon and 21-0 in three-set matches. CofC is also 17-1 on the road.
The Cougars improve to 8-0 in the month of September with six of those coming as sweeps.
Vukovic has five matches with at least 3 aces this season.
Charleston held an opponent below .150 for the sixth time this season.
CofC is hitting .290-or-better in seven consecutive matches.
