Women's Golf Hosts 22nd Annual Cougar Classic

CHARLESTON, S.C- Fresh off a season opening victory at the AOD Summit at Quail Hollow, the College of Charleston women's golf team will host the 22nd annual Cougar Classic September 7-8 at Yeamans Hall Club.
The field will feature nine of the pre-season top 26 teams in the country, including 2026 NCAA National Championship participant Arkansas.
The Cougars secured an eight-stroke victory over second place Charlotte. App State, Winthrop, Gardner-Webb, and North Carolina A&T rounded out the field. The win marks the 45th career head coaching victory for Jamie Futrell to start his 30th season leading the program.
All five Cougars in the lineup finished in the top ten, led by Molly Hardwick at T2 (+2). The senior sank five birdies over two rounds. Sophie Bingel and Tori Robinson made their collegiate debuts at Quail Hollow, finishing T5 (+4) and T9 (+7) respectively. Jia Kataria will make her Cougar debut this week at the Cougar Classic.
Last season, Charleston finished T6 at the Cougar Classic, the program's best finish at the event since 2022. The Cougars will tee off Monday at 8:50 a.m., playing alongside N.C. State and LSU.
