• Graduated from Schurr High School in Montebello, Calif.
• Named all-league three times, including twice on the first team, and was on All-CIF team as a freshman
• Also selected to the San Gabriel Valley all-star team on three occasions
• Chosen team's MVP as a freshman and defensive player of the year as a sophomore
• Helped team reach the third round of the state tournament all three years with a record of 60-16-1 over that span
• Played for Southern California Athletics travel team whose coaching staff included former Cougar Izzy Berouty
• Helped lead travel team to third place at PGF tournament
• Member of the Honor Roll every semester and was a student body cabinet member
