Fred Lux is in his fifth season as an assistant coach for the College of Charleston women's golf program having served as volunteer assistant since 2012.
Lux grew up in upstate New York in the Hudson Valley in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. He played collegiate golf at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Fla.
In 1970, Lux enlisted in the U.S. Navy and his duties were in special services at the U.S. Naval Amphibious Base in Little Creek, Va. He also served as golf professional from 1971-73 at Eagle Haven Golf Course in Virginia Beach, Va.
A PGA member since 1976, Lux was previously the head professional at a private country club in Poughkeepsie for 27 years. He is a Quarter Century and Life Member of the PGA.
Lux and his wife of 44 years, Judith, have two daughters: Eve Lux Vanderweele and Amanda Lux Orcutt. Both played golf at College of Charleston. They also have four grandchildren.
He now divides his time between South Carolina and New York, always encouraging and helping people with their golf swing and game.
