Newman on choosing the College of Charleston: "I chose to commit to College of Charleston because it had what I wanted both academically and athletically. The athletic facilities at Patriots Point are absolutely amazing as well as the coaching staff. The team is really close and has a positive environment which was a great fit for me. The Honors College allows for me to excel to the point that I wanted to academically. College of Charleston is just an all around amazing place!"

Michner on Newman: "Claire is a versatile player who can play anywhere along the back line and will challenge our returning players straight away for playing time. We are excited to have her a bit earlier than is typical as she graduated early from high school to join us in the spring. She played for one of the top youth teams in North Carolina and that experience will help her as she transitions to the college game and the speed at which our team plays. She has some wonderful qualities and we know she'll represent our program well on and off the field."
