Chris Wollett

Chris Wollett is in his second year as assistant coach for the College of Charleston men’s and women’s tennis teams.

A native of Ocala, Fla., Wollett joined the Cougar family from Western Carolina University where he served as the head coach for the Catamounts the past three seasons. Prior to his time in Cullowhee, Wollett was the Director of Tennis at the Country Club of Ocala in Ocala, Fla.

“Coach Wollett’s love and enthusiasm for the game is contagious,” College of Charleston Director of Tennis, Angelo Anastopoulo said. “Both programs will need to draw on his knowledge to find success in the incredibly talented CAA. Coach Wollett’s outgoing personality will be a great attribute to our recruiting program.  He is generally a great person and one of the nicest people I have met.  We are very lucky to have Coach Wollett helping with our programs.”

Wollett played collegiately for the University of Mary Washington, where he was named team captain in 2001 and 2002. After reaching the NCAA Tournament, the Eagles finished the 2002 season ranked in the top 10 in Division III. Wollett then transferred to the University of North Florida for his senior year where he earned a degree in international studies in 2003.

Wollett joins a program who on the women’s side have enjoyed seven consecutive 20-win seasons, including five consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances and five-straight conference championships. The men’s team has also seen success on the court, winning three of the last four Southern Conference Championships as well as the 2012 SoCon Tournament.

Wollett currently lives in Mount Pleasant, S.C., with his dog Stella and enjoys surfing, wakeboarding and golf in his spare time.
