Georgia Southern earned a 1-0 lead in the 34th minute on Tony Moffat's third goal of the season. Jeff Russell took the ball down the right sideline and fed Moffat, who had gotten in behind his defender. Moffat beat Charleston keeper Wes Martino to the ball, and flicked the shot on for the score.
Charleston knotted the match at 82:46 on Montae Seabrook's first goal of the year. Jeff Files' indirect kick found Seabrook, who headed it past Eagle keeper Garret Lazenby to tie the game at one.
The Cougars eventual game winner game just under a minute later, when Marc Gaskins recovered the ball in Charleston's zone and banged in his second goal of the season for a 2-1 margin.
Georgia Southern outshot Charleston 8-3 in the first period, but the Cougars came back with an 11-4 margin in the second frame. Lazenby recorded four saves for GSU, while Martino finished with three stops.
Georgia Southern returns to action Sunday as they travel to Birmingham Southern to take on the Panthers for the first time in program history. Game time is set for 2:00.
