The first half saw both teams play trying to get a feel for each other and resulted in a 0-0 tie heading into the intermission. The second half, however, was where the action would lie.
Tetirick, who had been sidelined with a leg injury, marked his return with the first goal of the match in the 54th minute. He took the ball at the top of the penalty box and evaded a slew of Cougar defenders before firing the ball into the lower right corner of the net.
In the 71st minute of play, senior midfielder Erik Ozimek (Columbia, S.C.) set up the second Wildcat score of the night. Ozimek brought the ball up the left side of the pitch and expertly placed the ball into the box. Once in the box, Tetirick took control and scored his second goal of the match and fifth goal of the season.
The Cougars' Zachary Peoples placed a beautiful header off of a free kick into the back of the net at 85:29 to end the Wildcat shutout bid and make the score 2-1 in favor of Davidson.
The match was a physical contest with the teams combining for 31 fouls, four yellow cards and three red cards.
Statistically, the Wildcats held the edge in shots, 15-8, as well as corners, 15-3. Davidson freshman Bart Creasman (Lake Mary, Fla.) finished the night with two saves while Wes Martino of College of Charleston made six saves.
Davidson will face yet another nationally-ranked opponent as SoCon-foe Furman heads to Richardson Stadium for a 4:30 match on Saturday, November 3. College of Charleston hosts Elon Saturday at 7:00.
