With the win, the Paladins improved to 5-0-0 overall and 2-0-0 in league play. The Cougars fell to 1-3-1 and 1-1-0.
Allison, who's in his seventh season as head coach at Furman and overall, sports a 100-25-9 coaching record.
It took the Paladins less than five minutes to grab the lead. Patrick Tanners' goal at the 4:29 mark off an assist from Asgeir Asgeirsson gave Furman a 1-0 lead. Sergei Raad's third goal of the season stretched Furman's lead to 2-0 with 35:01 remaining in the first half.
Clint Dempsey's first career goal with 16:35 left in the half stretched the margin to 3-0.
The Paladins added a goal at the 60:44 mark when John Barry Nusum connected from nine yards out.
College of Charleston travels to Columbia on Sunday to battle nationally ranked South Carolina in a 2:00 start. Furman will take on Virginia Commonwealth on Friday (5:00) in opening day action of the Clemson Invitational.
