Junior Ricardo Diaz Granados' goal at the 9:09 mark off an assist from teammate Jeff Files gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead. It was Granados' third goal and Files' fifth assist on the season.
The Cougars took a 2-0 lead after a goal by Junior Jeff Files. Files scored his third goal of the season after beating Bulldog goalkeeper Bryon Voyer after a pass from Sophomore Ben Hollingsworth. It was Hollingsworth's fourth assist of the year.
The Citadel got on the board when Cody Bragg scored on an assist from Ben Wilson.
With eleven seconds left in the game, Senior Jason Dowiak scored off a penalty kick giving the Cougars a 3-1 lead which would turn out to be the final score.
Cougar goalie Keith Wiggans played the entire game and recorded four saves.
Charleston outshot The Citadel 19-12, and led in corner kicks 6-3.
The Cougars next game is against Winthrop on Friday, November 1st, 7:30 pm when they play in the Carolina Youth Development Center Soccer Classic at Patriots Point Field. South Carolina and Coastal Carolina get Friday started with a 5:00 kickoff at Patriots Point Field.
