Charleston's record stands at 10-5-2, while the Chanticleers remain unbeaten with a 15-0-2 mark.
The Cougars, who are unbeaten in their last five matches and are 7-1-1 over their last nine, held a 12-10 advantage in shots. Coastal Carolina had seven of the game's nine corner kicks.
In the opener, a three-goal first half helped 19th-ranked South Carolina to a win over Winthrop.
The Gamecocks (10-6-1) got a pair of goals from Jack Cummings en route to their largest margin of victory this season. Robert Rosenberg, Anthony Stovall and J.C. Desriac added goals for the Gamecocks. Gareth Hayden had a goal for Winthrop's (11-5-1) lone score.
South Carolina, which played a man down after Jordan Quinn received a red card with 45 seconds left in the first half, dominated the match, outshooting the Eagles, 15-7. The Gamecocks held a 6-0 advantage on corner kicks while goalkeeper Michael Bachmeyer recorded four saves.
The Cougars are in action again on Wednesday when they host Southern Conference member Wofford in a 6:00 start.
