Washington's Brett Weisner gave the Huskies a 1-0 lead 16 minutes into the game when his header hit the back of the net after a cross from Gavin Hobbs.
The Cougars outshot the Huskies by a 6-5 total in the first half.
In the second half, Dayo Oyetuga scored a goal, giving the Huskies a 2-0 lead, when his shot sailed into the net on an open goal in the 66th minute of the game.
Charleston competed until the final buzzer and actually outplayed Washington in some statistical categories. For the game, the Cougars outshot the Huskies 17-9. They had some great looks at the goal, but several of their shots went either wide or high of the goal. Cougar goalie Keith Wiggans, who played the entire game, had four saves.
The Cougars record now stands at 2-2-1, while the Huskies improved to 2-0-2.
The College of Charleston resumes action on Sunday, September 15th, when they take on New Hampshire at 11:00 am in the final day of the South Carolina Soccer Classic in Columbia, SC. South Carolina and Washington play the final game on Sunday at 1:30 pm.
