With the win the Wildcats improved to 3-1-1 overall and 1-0-0 in league play. The Cougars fell to 3-3-1 and 0-1-0 despite holding a 16-4 advantage in shots.
Hansell found the back of the net with 14:40 left in the match off an assist from Joel Sadler. The Cougars had a series of near misses including some point blank shots and two balls that hit the post.
Charleston had the best scoring opportunity in the first half when Jeff Files' header off a corner kick from Sage Martina hit the left post with 15:33 remaining. Charleston outshot the Wildcats 5-0 over the first 45 minutes.
The Cougars are in action again when they participate in the TCU Soccer Classic in Dallas. The Cougars take on SMU on September 27th, then battle host TCU on September 29th. Both matches begin at 2:00.
Davidson plays host to High Point at 7:00 on September 21st.
