The Cougars improve to 9-3-2 and 5-2 in the Southern Conference, while The Phoenix drops to 4-7-1 and 1-3-1. The Cougars have won their last five matches in a row, marking the first time since 1995, when the team went 14-7-1, earning its second consecutive trip to the NCAA tournament. It also marked the fifth straight shutout for the men's soccer team
The first half was quiet until the 17:56 mark when Granados laced the netter off the assist by Jeff Files. Not many shots were taken the rest of the half with total only six for both teams combined after 45 minutes.
The second half saw the Cougars add the insurance goal when Sage Martina converted the penalty kick at 74:03.
Granados led the Cougars with four shots, while five different Phoenix players had one shot apiece. The Cougars out-shot the Phoenix 12-5, while Elon held the corner kick edge 8-1. Taylor Saxe came away with five saves on the night, while Cougar Keith Wiggans had three saves.
The College of Charleston travels to Winthrop Oct. 29th at 4:00 PM, while Elon hosts Appalachian State Oct. 25th at 2:00 PM.
