Charleston improves to 9-5-2 overall and 5-3-2 in the SoCon, while Georgia Southern drops to 5-11-1 and 1-6-1. The Cougars are now undefeated in their last five games with three wins and two ties.
Schuetz's goal came at 8:09 in the first half off the assist by Jamie Stewart. The Cougars out-shot the Eagles 7-2 in the first half with Georgia Southern picking up two saves to none for Charleston.
The second half saw several shots taken but none could make it past the line as the second half ended in the same way as the first, with the score 1-0. Shots were fairly even with the Cougars garnering five and the Eagles four.
Schuetz led the Cougars with five shots, while Mary-KateTalbott and Jennifer Myers led the Eagles with two shots apiece. The Cougars totaled 12 shots for the game, compared to six for the Eagles. Georgia Southern held the 5-2 edge in saves.
The College of Charleston host The Citadel Oct. 26th in a make-up contest at 1:00 PM while Georgia Southern hosts Western Carolina the same day, also at 1:00 PM.
