The Cougar goalkeeper Keith Wiggans made seven saves while the Dolphins' Greg Williams made five saves on eight shots. Jacksonville was unable to capitalize on Charleston's 16 fouls.
Charleston took an early lead at 18:42 when Ricardo Diaz Granados headed in a ball for the first goal of the match which was sent across by Sage Martina.
Charleston extended their lead to 2-0 when Ben Hollingsworth took the ball at the top center of the box, dribbled in about 10 yards, and shot it past the Dolphin goalkeeper on the right side for the goal at 43:33.
Both Charleston and Jacksonville were even in shots on goal (five) in the first half, corner kicks (two) and saves. Charleston recorded one more foul (eight) than Jacksonville.
The Cougars continued to roll in the second half as Martina slipped the ball past the Dolphin goalie to take Charleston to a 3-0 lead. Jeremy Gold fed the ball to Martina at 59:11.
Jacksonville fell to No. 8 South Carolina Friday night 4-0 while Charleston fell to Alabama A&M 2-1.
