Rhyne's first score of the day came at 41:28 when she collected a rebound off of a Morris shot that was blocked. The Cougars (5-4-3, 3-2-2 SoCon) would maintain the 1-0 advantage until Rhyne struck again in the 79th minute. On her second score of the day, and fourth of the season, Rhyne collected a cross from Morris and booted the ball past the Phoenix keeper.
The loss dropped Elon to 1-9-1 overall and 0-4-1 in Southern Conference action.
Emily Brenner went the distance for CofC in net, making four saves and recording her sixth shutout of the season. Kara Zagol and Amy Cahill split the 90 minutes in net evenly for Elon. Each allowed one score and Zagol recorded Elon's three saves.
The Cougars held a dominant 12-2 advantage in the first stanza, but the Phoenix virtually reversed that in the second half, outshooting College of Charleston 11-3. CofC ended the day with eight corner kicks to only one for Elon.
The Phoenix will head to Furman for a 7:00 p.m. tilt on Friday, October 15 while the Cougars will travel to Winthrop Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m.
