The Cougars improve to 6-4-2, while the Eagles drop their seventh straight to go to 3-10 on the year.
Teryn Schuetz, in just her second game back from injury, took a cross from Kristin Rhyne at 7:19 for the first goal of the night. Carolyn Morris added the second goal at 12:54. Nicole Blume was credited with the assist. Rounding out the Cougar effort was Kelly McGinty, who scored at 32:56 off the Claire Wigfall tap.
Charleston out-shot Winthrop 11-6, with the Eagles holding the 6-1 advantage in corner kicks and saves, 3-0.
Morris and Schuetz led the Cougars with three shot each, while Jennifer Hensley led the Eagles with two.
Winthrop hosts SC State Oct. 14th at 7:00 PM, while Charleston hosts Appalachian State Oct. 15th at Patriots Point in a 6:00 PM contest.
