#articleRelated { display: none !important; } Cougar Patrice Bryant's 15 points and seven rebounds would not be enough as Davidson's Katie Hamilton and Emily Callahan combined for 33 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Davidson women?s basketball team to a 72-47 victory over College of Charleston Friday evening in Belk Arena.

With the win, the Wildcats (5-3) move to 3-0 in Southern Conference action for the first time since 1996-97.

Charleston?s (3-3, 1-2 SoCon) Patrice Bryant gave the Cougars their only lead of the game after converting a layup seconds after the opening tip. Following a pair of ties at two and four, two free throws by Hamilton put Davidson ahead for good, 6-4. Six consecutive points by Callahan a few minutes later stretched the Wildcat advantage to 17-6. Callahan tallied 14 of her 16 points in the first half as Davidson took a 33-22 lead into the break.

An 11-2 spurt by Davidson in the early stages of the second stanza ended all threats of a Cougar comeback. The Wildcats were never threatened down the stretch and earned their fifth straight victory over the College of Charleston.

Hamilton led all players with 17 points while Mitchell came off the bench to chip in with career bests in points (11) and rebounds (seven). Meanwhile, Kelly finished with eight points, seven boards and a personal-high six assists.

For the Cougars, Bryant paced the squad with 15 points and seven rebounds. Jennifer Manard added eight points and five boards in 15 minutes of action off the bench.

The Wildcats have one more game before taking a break for the winter holidays. Davidson travels to Western Carolina on Monday, Dec. 20, and will tip-off at 7 p.m. College of Charleston will stay on the road to face Coastal Carolina on Sunday, Dec. 19, at 1 p.m.
