#articleRelated { display: none !important; } Hatters JoAnn Smith and Janene Maclin both notched double-doubles to combine for 33 points and 21 rebounds as they led Stetson women's basketball to a 70-58 win over College of Charleston Thursday night at the Edmunds Center.

In her first appearance of the season for the Hatters (3-5), Smith (Hammond, Ind.) tallied her first-ever career double-double for Stetson with a game-high and career-high 23 points along with 10 rebounds. Maclin notched her first double-double of the season, fourth of her career, as she racked up 11 rebounds and 10 points for the evening.

Despite three ties and one Cougar (4-4) lead at 6:59 in the first half, Stetson maintained control throughout the contest including a 10-point halftime lead.

In the second half, College of Charleston came within two points of the Hatters with a jumper by Patrice Bryant at 9:29, but Stetson went on to use a 10-3 run to widen the margin to nine points over the next five minutes. The Hatters biggest advantage came with just 13 seconds remaining in the game when Stetson pulled ahead 70-57 with a made free throw by Smith.

Bryant guided the Cougars with 19 points and five rebounds for the game.

The Hatters outrebounded College of Charleston 44-34 while posting their best shooting percentage so far this season shooting 48 percent from the floor.

Stetson is in action again next Thursday when it hosts Atlantic Sun Conference opponent Georgia State at the Edmunds Center at 7 p.m. The Cougars travel to Western Carolina Jan. 5th for a 7:00 PM tip-off.
