The Silver Cup is given annually to the winner of the CofC versus CSU matchup. The win marked the fifth straight year Charleston has won the Silver Cup. The Cougars improved their record to 5-6-2. Charleston Southern fell to 6-8-0.
Rhyne's first goal came at the 33:48 mark and gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead at intermission. Her second score came off an assist from Danielle Jordan and gave CofC a 2-0 cushion with 19:48 left in the match. Rhyne, a senior, leads the Cougars with six goals on the season.
The Cougars outshot the Bucs, 15-3, including seven shots from Rhyne.
Freshman goalie Erin Smith recorded her second shutout of the season. Smith had one save on the night.
The Cougars play host to Southern Conference foe Western Carolina in a 7:00 start on Friday.
