The Cougars improve to 6-7-2 overall and 4-2-2 in the Southern Conference, while the Bulldogs fall to 2-15 and 0-9.
Colleen Hoban put the Cougars up at 49:22 after Charleston was fouled about 19 yards from the center of the net, setting up Hoban with the free kick which she put into the back left corner for the game-winner.
Just about a minute later at 50:25, Carolyn Morris passed to Teryn Schuetz, who was just outside the box to the right of the goal. Schuetz then crossed it to Kristin Rhyne, who headed it into the back of the net.
The third goal came at 68:15 off a corner kick by Danielle Jordan on the right side. Jordan crossed to Lou Hudson, who was just in front of the net. Her header sent the ball just over the line for the score.
Caroline Wertis netted the Cougars' fourth goal at 69:44 after dribbling her way through traffic to just inside the box where she blasted the ball past the goalkeeper.
Charleston out-shot The Citadel 17-2, with the Bulldogs holding the 4-0 advantage in saves. Rhyne led the Cougars with four shots, while Miriam Crawford and Julie Austin paced the Bulldogs with one shot apiece.
The Cougars travel to Davidson Oct. 27th for a 7:00 PM match, while the Bulldogs travel to Florida State Oct. 25th. The match is set for 7:00 PM.
