The Cougars fall to 6-7-2 overall and 4-2-2 in the Southern Conference. The Wildcats improve to 12-4-2 and 8-0-1.
After a scoreless first half Charleston put the first score on the board with a goal by Gia D'Agostino at 77:35. THe goal came from Colleen Hoban off a corner kick.
Davidson responded quickly with a goal at 79:03 by Jessica Lahre, who scored off a corner kick as well, this one by Chloe King.
Regulation ended with the 1-1 tie but just five minutes into the first overtime period (94:48) Kara Koehrn wrapped her shot around the post and past the goalkeeper for the game-winner.
Davidson out-shot Charleston 17-8 with both teams coming away with the 3-3 tie in saves. Kristin Rhyne led the Cougars with two shots while Koehrn paced the WIldcats with six shots.
Charleston hosts Chattanooga this Sunday at 1:00 PM in its final regular-season match of the 2005 season. Davidson travels to Western Carolina the same day for a 4:00 PM match.
