#articleRelated { display: none !important; } Patrice Bryant exploded for 20 points in the second half to propel the College of Charleston women's basketball team to the 60-51 come-from-behind win over the Elon Phoenix this afternoon in front of 591 fans at the John Kresse Arena.

Charleston wins its second in a row to move to 9-11 overall and 6-8 in the Southern Conference, while Elon drops to 4-17 and 3-11. Charleston improves to 5-2 at home this season.

Elon opened the game with a 7-0 run before the Cougars put up their first points of the half at the 13:16 mark. The five-point margin was the closest Charleston got in the first with Elon taking its largest lead at 14 with 5:34 to go before settling on the half-time margin of 10 at 28-18. Charleston was held to just 20.7 percent from the field in the first half with Elon dominating the floor at 50.0 percent.

Charleston took over in the second half with the Cougars pulling to within two off a 9-1 run the first two-and-a-half minutes. The Cougars took the lead at 12:03 off a free throw by Bryant, one of her 20 points in the half. Charleston would take a commanding 13-point lead midway through the second and never looked back, finishing with the eventual nine-point 60-51 win.

The Cougars shot 51.6 in the second half to finish with 36.7 percent for the game, while the Phoenix ended with 40.4. Charleston out-rebounded Elon 41-34 and had six less turnovers, 13-19.

Bryant led all scores with her 20 points. After going 0-7 in the first half she went 9-15 in the final 20 minutes to pace the team. With 10 rebounds she picked up her fourth career double-double. Melissa Chambers followed with her seven points this afternoon. Sade Jordan led Elon with 11 points, while three different players led defensively with six board apiece.

Elon travels to Georgia Southern Feb. 7th for a 7:00 PM tip-off while the Cougars host UNC Greensboro the same night at 7:00 PM as well.
