Smith, Schuetz Lead CofC Past Wofford, 1-0

Goalie Erin Smith recorded five saves and Teryn Schuetz scored the only goal with 8:48 remaining as College of Charleston blanked Wofford, 1-0, in women's Southern Conference soccer action at Snyder Field on Sunday.
With the win, the Cougars improved to 5-5-2 overall and 4-1-0 in leauge play. Wofford is 4-5-2 and 1-3-0.
Overall, the Cougars had 10 shots and nine corner kicks in the match, while the Terriers had nine shots and no corner kicks.
"Anytime you win a road conference game, it's a great accomplishment," said associate head coach, Tim Santoro. "This win gives us confidence for our upcoming matches, especially our match Friday against a difficult Western Carolina team."
Smith knotched her second shutout of the season.
The Cougars return to action on Oct. 13 against Western Carolina (7-5-2, 3-1-1 SoCon) in Cullowhee, N.C. at 7 p.m.
