The College of Charleston took four of six singles matches to clinch the 5-2 win over American in men's tennis action this afternoon at the tennis center at Patriots Point in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
The Cougars win their 12th in a row to go to 12-1 on the year, while American falls to 4-6 overall.
The Cougars swept the doubles play to earn the point heading into singles play, with the closest match a 8-6 win by Or Dekel and Marcus DiGliodo over Juancarlo Vazquez at number one. The other two matches were 8-4 decisions.
American took number four and five singles in three sets, but Charleston rebounded with wins at numbers one, two, three and six. Justin Malina, playing at number three, took the easy 6-1, 6-1 win over Sebastien Proisy to earn his 11th straight win and went to 11-0 this season, remaining the only Cougar to still be undefeated in singles action.
The Cougars host Elon Sunday, March 19th at 1:30 in SoCon action. It is Parents' weekend for the Cougars as well. American travels a short distance to Charleston Southern Saturday, March 18th for a 12:00 match.
