Cougars Excel At Shamrock Invitational

The College of Charleston Track & Field team wrapped up the 2006 Coastal Carolina Shamrock Invitational Saturday with several Cougars excelling in the individual events.
Kosha Lance and Wells Trompeter each notched the highest finishes for CofC as Lance finished fifth in shot put with a mark of 41 feet and one half inches and Trompeter finished fifth in the steeple chase with a time of 11:50.57.
Lance also earned eighth and ninth place finishes in the discus throw and the hammer throw.
Ashley Arnold finished eighth in the steeple chase with a time 12:09.62 and Dominique Boone also had an eighth place finish as she earned a mark of 36 feet, eight and a half inches in the triple jump.
Summer Chambless, fresh off her record setting performance last week, notched an eighth place finish in the pole vault with a height of 10 feet six inches as well as finishing 10th in the javelin throw with a mark of 105 feet and one inch.
Katie Hedley notched another top ten finish for the Cougars as she recorded a time of 11:09.80 in the 3,000 meters. Carla Washington placed well in the 100 and 200 meters as she recorded times of 12.98 and 26.54 respectively.
CofC will be back in action next week as they head north to take part in the Raleigh Relays hosted by North Carolina State.
