
CofC shuts out Lady Mocs in Chattanooga, 3-0

Brittany Schneider, Kerry Broderick and Julie Romanik each scored as the College of Charleston women's soccer team shut out Chattanooga in a Southern Conference match up this afternoon at the North River Soccer Complex.
The Cougars bounced back after Wednesday's loss to Davidson to improve their record to 9-6-1 overall and 6-1-1 in the SoCon. The Lady Mocs fall to 1-10-2 overall and 1-5-1 in the league.
The game-winning goal came late in the first half. Schneider scored off an assist by Romanik and midfielder Megan Manthey (36:04). The goal was Schneider's third of the season.
In the second half, Charleston added a pair of goals. In the 63rd minute, Broderick, a freshman midfielder, fought through the Chattanooga defense and scored her third goal of the season to put the Cougars up 2-0.
With just 10 minutes to play in the second half, Danielle Jordan took a corner kick for CofC. Manthey collected the ball and sent a pass into to Romanik who scored the final goal for the afternoon (79:34).
The Cougars held a 19-6 shot advantage over the Lady Mocs. Barrow and Morgan Benz led the squad with four shots each.
Chattanooga's goalie, Milla Junni made seven saves, while CofC keeper Sarah Wiggers had one. Wiggers recorded her sixth shutout of the season and now owns a .893 save average.
Charleston will return home to take on Furman at 7p.m. Fri., Oct. 26, at Patriots Point Field in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
