The College of Charleston men's tennis team stayed undefeated with a 5-2 victory over cross-town foe, Charleston Southern, at the Patriots Point Tennis Center on Tuesday.
The victory improves CofC's record to 7-0 overall, while Charleston Southern drops to 7-6.
The Cougars began the day with winning two out of the three doubles matches to earn one team point. The doubles team of Justin Malina and Jimmy Petit improved to 4-0 for the season with an 8-6 win over Quentin Guichard and Babar Akbar of Charleston Southern.
CofC then won four out of the six singles matches for the victory. CofC's Or Dekel, who is ranked #112 in the nation for Division I Men by the FILA Collegiate Tennis Rankings, won his seventh singles match of the season by defeating Jonathan Dean 6-0, 6-2. Omer Abramovich of CofC also won his seventh match through a win over Steven Dean 6-0, 6-1. Both players are undefeated in singles action this season. Marcos DiGliodo and Malina also won singles matches for the Cougars.
The Cougars will return to action on Mar. 15 against Appalachian State at the Patriots Point Tennis Center beginning at 1 p.m. CofC has won its first two SoCon matches this season.
Charleston Southern's next match will be against High Point on Mar. 16 in Charleston, S.C. beginning at 1 p.m.
