The College of Charleston men's tennis team dropped its first match of the season to #43 Elon, 4-3, at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center in Elon, N.C. on Mar. 17.
The loss drops CofC to 8-1 overall and 3-1 in the SoCon, while Elon improves to 13-2 and 4-0 in the SoCon.
The Cougars won all three of the doubles matches to earn one team point. The doubles team of Jimmy Petit and Justin Malina won its sixth consecutive match through an 8-4 victory over Sebastian Breberg and Austin Fenn of Elon in the #3 doubles match.
CofC was only able to win two out of the six singles matches in the loss. Omer Abramovich stayed undefeated in singles play on the season and improved to 8-0 with his 6-4, 6-7 (0), 10-2 win over Breberg in the #4 singles match. The other singles win for CofC came from Marcos Digliodo in his 7-6 (5), 6-7 (9), 6-2 win over Anuwat Dalodom in the #2 singles match.
#112 Or Dekel dropped his first match of the season in a 6-4, 6-2 loss to Damon Gooch of Elon in the #1 singles match.
