The No. 74 College of Charleston men's tennis team edged Davidson, 4-3, at the Covington Tennis Courts in Davidson, N.C. on Saturday.
The victory improves CofC's record to 11-1 overall and 5-1 in the SoCon, while Davidson drops to 6-12 and 1-5 in Southern Conference play.
The Cougars earned one team point by winning two out of the three doubles matches. The doubles team of Or Dekel and Marcos Digliodo earned its eighth win of the season for Charleston with an 8-5 victory over John Bolton and Flaviu Simihaian of Davidson in the No. 1 doubles match. The CofC team of Justin Malina and Jimmy Petit also grabbed its eighth win of the season with an impressive 8-2 triumph over Phillip Compeau and Eric Noble in the No. 3 doubles match.
CofC won three singles matches to earn the victory. The reigning SoCon Men's Tennis Player of the Week, CofC's Omer Abramovich, stayed undefeated and notched his 11th win of the season with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Scott Myers in the No. 3 singles match. Dekel got his 11th win of the season with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 win over Simihaian in the No. 1 singles match. Digliodo got the other singles win for the Cougars with his 6-4, 6-2 victory over Bolton in the No. 2 singles match.
The Cougars will return to action on Mar. 25 at East Carolina in Greenville, N.C. beginning at Noon.
