The first home event for the men's tennis team of the 2008-2009 season was a success. After rain postponed play on Friday, play resumed on Saturday and Sunday for the cougars to get a full weekend of matches. Omer Abramovich, Lukas Koncilia, Mickael Boyer and Victor Wibreus each went 3-0 in singles as they played conference opponents Appalachian State, Citadel and A10 opponent Charlotte.
The cougars won seven flights in singles, two flights in doubles and went 27-8 on the weekend as a team. Abramovich and Koncilia won the Flight 1 doubles draw and Chris Toussaint and Bo Crouch paired to go undefeated in their doubles flight.
"The team has prepared well this fall in practice and conditioning; this weekend was good match experience for each of the guys as they keep working. We will use this weekend to build on for our upcoming weekend at William and Mary (November 7-9)."
