Charlotte edged the College of Charleston, 4-3, in men's tennis action Friday at the D.L. Phillips Tennis Complex. The Cougars fell just shy despite earning wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles play.
Omer Abramovich earned a 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-8) victory over Felix Bernhoerster at No. 1, while Mikael Boyer took a 6-4, 6-0 decision over Ricky Cuellar at No. 2.
The result hung in the balance down to the final singles match of the afternoon, as freshman Michael Anders upended sophomore Joe Nicolazzi at number-four in a grueling second set, which he won 7-6 (7-5 in a tiebreaker).
The Cougars (2-3) play at Wingate at 11 a.m on Saturday.
